Student Services

The Mercer County Career Center serves students with disabilities in grades 10-12 enrolled in our career and technical education programs.  MCCC ensures that a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment for students through the Individualized Education Program.  Each student’s individual needs are assessed on a case by case basis through a cooperative process with each student’s sending school district.

Special Education

Special Education is provided through the IEP (Individualized Education Program) as determined at each student’s sending school. Students with an IEP are provided with all services that are delineated within their plan. Depending on the type of services that are needed, the services are provided by the teacher, an instructional assistant and/or a member of the special education team.  All personnel that are responsible for providing the designated services are informed of the type of assistance that is required by a member of the special education team. Staff at MCCC work in collaboration with each student’s sending school to provide the services written within an IEP.

504-Service Plan

Students with a 504-service plan are provided with services that are delineated within their service plan. Depending on the type of services that are needed, the services are provided by the teacher, an instructional assistant and/or a member of the special education team.

Gifted Education

The Mercer County Career Center will work in cooperation with a gifted student’s sending school district to ensure that a Gifted Individualized Education Plan is implemented to the fullest extent possible in the CTE setting.

Homeless

The McKinney – Vento Homeless Assistance Act established the Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program to ensure homeless youth have access to a free and appropriate public education while removing barriers. The goal is to provide an educational process that continues as uninterrupted as possible while the children are in homeless situations.

If you are a child or youth who is sharing the housing of other persons due to the loss of housing, economic hardship or similar situations, or are aware of a situation in which a student attending the Mercer County Career Center may be homeless,  please contact your sending schools Homeless Liaison.

English Language Learners

Students with limited English proficiency also receive services through the special education team. These students are provided with additional support in understanding the course content through services provided by the sending school district with assistance or support from the special education team.

 Economically Disadvantaged

Economically disadvantaged students may be provided with monetary assistance if they cannot afford the tools, materials, or uniforms that are required for participation in a program.  The school actively seeks assistance within the local community through donations from corporations, individual businesses, and community organizations. Grants, scholarships, or other forms may be completed by families with the assistance of MCCC staff to utilize the appropriation of these funds.
